We are looking for a Senior Architect to lead our Data Science and Machine Learning effort from the technology viewpoint.  This senior individual contributor role (Senior Director level), reporting to the SVP of Software Engineering, will play a pivotal part in our organization, leading the execution of Machine Learning initiatives to support business decisions, enhance customer experiences, and drive growth.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Machine Learning Architect to join our cutting-edge technology team. As a Machine Learning Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced AI and language models, driving technical and architectural decisions, and ensuring the development of efficient, scalable, and high-performance solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams of developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts to deliver state-of-the-art AI technologies and solutions that meet our clients' needs.

Key accountabilities for this role are to:

  • Design and implement robust and scalable Machine Learning solutions, leveraging cutting-edge AI techniques, deep learning algorithms, and natural language processing capabilities.

  • Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into architectural designs and technical specifications.

  • Lead the design and development of highly performant AI models and systems that can generate human-like text, comprehend language, and respond contextually to user input.

  • Conduct research and experimentation to identify new AI techniques and algorithms that can enhance our language models' capabilities and performance.

  • Evaluate and select appropriate tools, frameworks, and libraries to enhance productivity, efficiency, and scalability of AI systems.

  • Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to gather data, preprocess it, and train models using state-of-the-art deep learning frameworks.

  • Stay abreast of advancements in AI, machine learning, and language processing and continuously enhance your knowledge and skills to inform architectural decisions.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, ensuring high-quality code development and adherence to best practices.

  • Evaluate and optimize the performance of AI systems, ensuring fast response times, low latency, and efficient resource utilization.

  • Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployment strategies, and production monitoring tools.

To be successful in this role, the candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 7 years of machine learning modeling experience is required

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in healthcare or HealthTech

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong experience in AI, natural language processing, language generation, and conversational AI.

  • Experience delivering models from data acquisition to application integration.

  • Demonstrated thought leadership on future data science strategy.

  • Advanced knowledge of machine learning modeling techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, and NLP) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks. Experience with GPT models or similar language models is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure) and their AI-related services.

  • Experience using SQL to extract data from databases.

  • Experience using Snowflake and Databricks.

  • Ability to visualize data and model results utilizing a modern BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, etc.).

  • Experience implementing LLMs for data extraction, summarization, and/or content generation.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in software engineering principles, design patterns, and familiarity with modern development methodologies. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex AI challenges and design elegant, scalable solutions.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, can present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $121,915.50 - $190,173.00 per year . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
