Maintenance Technician

Maintain, adjust and repair all aspects of production line equipment, as directed by Maintenance Manager

Responds to urgent needs in order to keep the production lines running continually

Ensuring the mechanical equipment, i.e. the overhead crane, air compressors, company-owned vehicles, air lines, etc. are maintained in good, safe, working order at all times

Working with outside contractors, as authorized, to maintain the working condition of company-owned equipment

Ensuring the safety of the processing and office areas at all times, i.e. inspection of duck boards, air lines, water lines, etc. and repair those items as required and/or directed by Production and/or Quality Management

Assists with preventative maintenance work on equipment

Lubricate and clean parts and equipment to ensure proper operation


Observe mechanical devices and equipment and listen to sounds to determine proper functioning or identify causes of trouble


Dismantle equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts using hand tools and power tools. Replace and install parts as needed


Operate a variety of hand and power tools to repair, grease, cut, change parts and complete tasks as assigned


Assists with the packaging, transporting, storing and disposing of hazardous wastes

Proper disposal of Hazardous Waste (Oil, Oily water, Rags, Universal waste etc) in proper container with applicable labels, covers, etc.

Periodic Inspections of Hazardous Waste Area

Provides assistance in event of hazardous chemical spill, and identifies pollutant, determines hazardous impact, and recommends corrective action.


Practice 6S Principles, and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition

Must be flexible to work varying hours and shifts, including overtime and weekends, to accommodate the production deadlines.

Maintain emergency equipment (e.g. spill kits, fire extinguishers, safety showers / eyewashes).


Properly handle and store hazardous waste and universal waste containers to prevent spills.


Manage empty containers properly.

Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Picks up debris from plant grounds and maintains area

Loads/unloads materials onto/from pallets, barrels, racks, and shelves by hand, forklift

Operates forklift to assist in loading or moving materials and products

Forklift Operation

Basic Cleaning Tools (Broom, Push Broom, Shovel, Mop, etc.)

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Regularly required to walk and talk or hear, push, pull and lift. Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Frequently is required to sit or stand, reach with hands and arms, and balance. Frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Frequently exposed to airborne particles.

Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Proven experience to handle hazardous waste.

Good analytical/critical thinking

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical knowledge troubleshooting mechanical equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics preferred.
