Temporary Translation Specialist

Job Description:

At the heart of the FBIs mission lies the protection of the American people and property from harm. As such, the bureau is actively seeking individuals proficient in Spanish, Persian-Farsi, Pashto-Afghani, Arabic, Ukrainian, French, Haitian Creole, Somali, and Hindi to help them achieve this goal. As a contract linguist, you will tap into your cultural and linguistic knowledge to penetrate criminal networks and help the FBI prevent activities that threaten the security of the nation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare English versions of written or recorded materials that are originally in a different language.
• During interviews, training sessions, or visits from foreign dignitaries, interpretation acts as a crucial tool to bridge linguistic and cultural barriers, allowing for mutual understanding and effective communication.
• By providing cultural sensitivity training to investigators, I can help ensure that they are equipped to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Detail the qualifications and training required for producing court translations.
• Aid secret operatives in conducting diverse interviews.
• The job requires working at a designated field office, however, travel to other field offices or legal attachs could be necessary to provide assistance with ongoing cases.

Key Requirments:

There are specific prerequisites that must be met in order to be considered for the contract linguist job opening:

• Show your language competence by earning satisfactory scores on the FBI's Foreign Language Test Battery.
• To meet the requirements, one must possess citizenship of the United States.
• It is essential that the employee is capable of obtaining Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
• Eager to go on trips per the demands of the position.
• Meeting the FBI's Employment Eligibility criteria is necessary to be considered for a job with the agency.
