Train and mentor new surgical technicians, providing guidance and support as needed.
Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to prepare and maintain a safe and sterile surgical environment.
Assist with surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon and ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are available.
Evaluate and maintain inventory levels of surgical supplies and equipment, ensuring proper storage and handling.
Stay up-to-date on the latest surgical techniques and technologies, incorporating new skills and knowledge into daily practice.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and support regarding surgical procedures and aftercare.
Ensure compliance with all safety and infection control protocols.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during surgical procedures, including equipment malfunctions and unexpected complications.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all surgical procedures and patient outcomes.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices for surgical care.
Serve as a role model for professionalism and ethical behavior, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
Assist with scheduling and coordinating surgical cases, taking into consideration surgeon preferences and patient needs.
Participate in on-call rotations as needed to ensure 24/7 coverage for emergency surgeries.
