Key responsibilities

  • Consult, identify and frame opportunities to implement AI solutions that help gain insight and improve decision making and automation

  • Partner with Data Scientists and Chevron IT Foundational services to implement complex algorithms and models into enterprise scale machine learning pipelines

Data Analyst

Job description

  • A Data Analyst provides expertise on how business workflows map to data and will serve as a subject matter expert for the delivery teams about specific business domain.
  • Data Analysts can specialize in 2 areas:
    • Data translation specialization: data analysts contribute to building reusable data products mapped to business subject areas. They identify, design and test the transformations of the data that will facilitate future consumption and creation of business value.
    • Data visualization specialization: data analysts drive insights into business problems by visualizing the data and telling a story through data (report patterns, trends, anomalies, etc.).

Key responsibilities

  • Understanding the business use of data and stakeholder requirements to support work processes and strategic business objectives.
  • Working with business (digital platform, Business Units, function teams) and delivery teams to provide data management direction and support for data foundation initiatives and data products development.
  • Analyzing current state of data management: process, practices, tools, and helping shape future needs. Contributing to the design of common information models.
  • Assessing data quality concerns specific to workflow solutions being adopted and driving mitigation activities.
  • Advising on the appropriate data integration patterns, data modeling and data quality.
  • Maintaining and sharing knowledge of requirements, key data types and data definitions, data stores, data creation process.
  • Designing visualization that will provide insights and create value.

Requirements

Preferred education / degrees

  • Currently enrolled in bachelor s or master s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related fields or equivalent experience
  • Must provide a current, unofficial transcript with online resume (as proof of good academic standing) when applying for this position to be considered.

Experience

  • Data acquisition, analysis, modeling, movement, transformation, and preparation experience
  • Demonstrated depth in advanced analytics / data science technologies (e.g., machine learning, operations research, statistics, data mining)
  • Development experience with a JavaScript framework (Angular, React, node.js etc.)
  • Machine Learning Engineer: Software Engineering background. Working knowledge of mathematics (primarily linear algebra, probability, statistics), and algorithms. Working knowledge of machine learning frameworks and machine learning libraries.
  • Data Analyst: Experience in data analysis for a small, defined business process.

Preferred skills / competencies

  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of enterprise SaaS complexities including security/access control, scalability, high availability, concurrency, online diagnoses, deployment, upgrade/migration, internationalization, and production support
  • Experience designing custom APIs for machine learning models for training and inference processes
  • Software engineering skills and fundamentals: coding (Python, R) and Github, source control versioning, requirement spec, architecture, and design review, testing methodologies, CI/CD, etc.
  • Critical thinking, analytical thinking, interest in using data to solve business problems
