Job Summary
The Radiology Technologist is capable of working in various healthcare settings, including ambulatory and acute care centers. They are skilled in performing radiology procedures under the guidance of a Radiologist and can independently obtain appropriate exams for interpretation.
The Technologist is responsible for exam room presentation, patient transportation, entering exams into the Radiology Information System, scheduling radiology exams, educating patients on exam prep instructions, obtaining correct orders and paperwork for records, billing, and communicating with Medical Staff as requested. Technologist will obtain and maintain the knowledge needed for the PACS. The Technologist may share on call duties. Depending on the needs of the care environment may be responsible for evenings, weekends and holidays as directed by the department leader. The Technologist reports equipment malfunctions/failures to their immediate Supervisor, Maintenance staff, or Bio-med service as appropriate. The Technologist follows all policies and procedures as set by the Medical Imaging Department, the facility and the organization.

Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Possesses an extensive knowledge of patient positioning, CR/DR principles, and Fluoroscopy techniques for acute care scenarios, including medical image processing and quality control. Displays excellent planning and multitasking abilities, and may even assist physicians during procedures.
- Establishes a nurturing space for learning.
- Working collaboratively with other imaging departments, patient care and flow will be organized efficiently.
- Monument Health serves as a facility for educating students, as all radiology technologists are expected to foster a conducive learning atmosphere for trainees undergoing their clinical rotation.
- Proficiently showcases the capacity to accomplish several intricate responsibilities and aid in the perpetual technical development of imaging team, medical professionals, and those pursuing a career in radiography.
- Adherence to infection-control policies and protocols is essential to safeguard patients and personnel.
- Understanding radiologic safety is crucial in reducing radiation to both patients and staff. To do this, one should adopt radiation protection techniques, employ beam restrictive devices, offer patient shielding, acquire knowledge in exposure factors, and continually monitor radiation levels with badges
- Displays a friendly and positive demeanor toward patients and others. Consistently delivers excellent customer service, while upholding established office policies and procedures.
- Experienced in employing ceiling and other lifts to provide secure and safe transportation of patients with limited mobility.
- Shares the task of departmental preservation by cleaning the work area, conducting preventive maintenance, replenishing supplies, and reporting equipment malfunctions.
- In adherence with the aseptic procedures mentioned in the Infection Control policy, the correct amount of contrast media is prepared and administered. Proper documentation of the procedure is recorded in the patient's chart, and the injector training session is completed.
- The healthcare provider carefully reviews the patient's medical background, current physical status, and the physician's requisition before starting any diagnostic imaging. Questions concerning the scanning process can be directed to the radiologist for assistance.
- Systematically readies both the patient and equipment before beginning each procedure.

Additional Requirements
Required:
Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies
Graduate - Radiology Program
Certification - **Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA); Radiologic Technologist (RT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Radiographer Experience
Physical Requirements:
The job may require lifting objects up to 100 pounds occasionally or seldomly, which necessitates physical fitness. Lifting such heavy objects frequently needs a lot of energy and strength.
